Point of Lay Hens are at least 20 weeks old and have reached their full adult size. These chickens are either already producing eggs, or will begin laying within 1-2 months. Chickens at this age are easiest to integrate into an existing flock of other full size chickens as they can hold their own in the pecking order.
Chickens should have access to a chicken coop for sleeping and laying eggs. Close them up in their coop at every night at dusk to protect them from common chicken predators, and open the coop again after dawn. The coop should have roosts for them to perch on for sleeping, and nesting boxes for laying eggs (approximately one box for every four chickens).
