The Dorking is an exceptional dual purpose bird, laying consistently through the winter, but also having virtually no competition when considering it's quality of meat. Dressed for the table, the birds have excellent quality and tender meat, with noticeably more flesh in the wings and breast. Dorkings are also one of the best mothers, going broody quite often, staying with their chicks much longer than other breeds, and welcoming chicks from other mothers.
