What Came First, The Chicken, or the Egg?
Updated: Nov 3, 2020

It is an age-old question, but it isn’t a query we will entertain today because here at Dare 2 Dream Farm we say what should always come first is the COOP. Are you thinking of getting into the backyard chicken scene? Chances are you are among the thousands of Californians that have created the space in their urban homesteads for the Egg layers. This little beauty to the left is called a Barred Rocks breed and they are a favorite breed here on the farm because they’re intelligent, hardy, and great layers who love human interaction and affection. They’re chatty and lovable and Oh, So Pretty! But where are you going to put this beauty to roost?

This is called Great Oaks. Can you guess why? Just look at that stately door and that cupola. I'm thinking of Gone with the Wind.
Or maybe Chalon Coop will blend in with your existing landscape or Urban Garden. The siding is gorgeous and the metal roof is not only practical but you could couple this with a rain catchment system to really step into sustainability. The attention to detail is unbelievable. I want this crew to build my house!

But what if you don't have the design abilities of some of these backyard chicken farmers? It's no problem. This last coop is called Chez Poulet. It is not an original D2DF design but a customer really wanted it so they made some slight modifications.
