In the Sta. Rita Hills, it all began with Sanford. In 1971, the Sanford & Benedict Vineyard became the first vineyard in what would become a world-class, cool-climate winegrowing region. For over 40 years now, this iconic vineyard has set the standard for quality in the region and is also home to the oldest Pinot Noir vines in the county. Today the estate is owned, farmed, and cared for by the Terlato family and is comprised of the Sanford & Benedict and La Rinconada Ranches and their vineyards. Guided by a commitment to the land and the vision of multi-generational family ownership and leadership, the Terlato family and the entire Sanford winery team, are committed to producing the highest quality wines as true reflections of their vineyards and the varietals planted there.
Trey Fletcher brings with him a wealth of knowledge, spending the last eight years at Bien Nacido Vineyards in Santa Maria, as Winemaker & General Manager. A seasoned veteran of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, Trey has also held winemaking roles with Littorai Wines in Sebastopol, as well as in Edna and Napa Valleys. His diverse background also includes extensive Pinot Noir winemaking experience in multiple countries.
Laura’s winemaking career began at Schramsberg Vineyards of Napa Valley, CA in 2008 as a Laboratory Intern. Two years later, she gained her Bachelors of Science in Viticulture and Enology at the University of California, Davis, and was awarded the Confrérie des Chevaliers du Tastevin Scholarship to work abroad in Burgundy, France in 2010. Laura joined Sanford Winery in 2012, where she started as the Enologist and was promoted to Associate Winemaker in 2019.
